weekend update
Oct. 5th, 2009 03:03 pmWhoa... talk about a productive weekend. It was most excellent.
I think Saturday's co-op car booking must have been the most efficient one I've ever done. When I first booked it, I accidentally picked Sunday instead of Saturday, and when I went to fix the booking, I could only get an hour and a half window with the truck, so that's what we had to work with. In that hour and a half, we packed up my futon into the truck, along with all of our empties, took the futon to my friend Colleen's place, where Ian and Colleen managed to get it up three flights of stairs to her apartment, took back all the empties, and then got the truck back just in time for the end of the booking. It was short enough that the money we got back from the empties more than paid for the booking.
It was SO cold in the flat on Friday night that I finally pulled out the manual to figure out how to turn the fireplace on. While I was at it, I started flipping through the manual to remind myself of what else was in there, and discovered that we had been given the colors for the paint that was used in our suite. Since we are starting to suspect that our walls have maybe two coats of paint on them - seriously, all you have to do to put a ding in them is look at them the wrong way - we went and picked up paint to do some touch-ups. We're eventually going to paint some of the walls in colours of our own choosing, but not for a while, and not likely all of them, so touching up the dings that happened during the move (and there was a LOT of them) is definitely a good idea.
We also tried a new sushi restaurant on the way home... the food was excellent, but the portion sizes were insanely huge.
And somewhere along the way, my bank card fell out of my pocket, so after work, I get to go up to the bank to replace it. Normally I'm out of work by 2pm but as next Monday is Thanksgiving, I decided to make it a 4-day weekend so I'm working long hours both this week and next week. I hate the long hours but the 4-day weekend will be awesome and is greatly needed.
