go go go

I woke up with a huge amount of motivation this morning. I have no idea where it came from, but you better believe I'm going to make use of it. I will only be on the computer long enough to finish my morning cup of tea, and then I will be off to get some things done before I leave the house.

I didn't do so well on the photo365 thing... but considering how much I've been staying in the house lately, it hasn't really given me much of the way of camera fodder. So I'm going to just try and make an effort to use my camera as much as possible instead. I will be heading over to my Mistress' house later, and I'm planning to try and walk over there (we'll see how far I make it), so I will hopefully find a few things to get snaps of along the way.

I did go out on Friday and finally went down to Three Bags Full and used most of my gift certificate. I managed to get the yarn for 6 different projects, and still have a credit on file with them. Of course, they are all fairly small projects, but still... that will keep me busy for a long, long time.

Alrighty, tea is done, so now I am off to clean the bathroom, mop the floors, and then have my shower.

I had a productive day today, but this evening hasn't been so great. Either I ate something that disagreed with me, or I really do have IBS. Not sure which.

On the plus side... our snow seems to be going away! It rained all day today, which is slowly melting the snow away. On the minus side... flooding. We don't have any entering the flat yet, let's hope it stays that way.

My photography skills quite obviously need a lot of work. I’m working with a pretty cheap camera, hands that aren’t the most steady, and the light in my basement suite is crappy at night, to say the least. But I know that the first thing that I need to do is to just take more pictures, so that’s what I’m doing. This is a little bit of a boring pic, but it’s a dish I made that turned out excellent, and also the first recipe I’ve posted in my new food/cooking blog. Instead of spreading things across multiple domains like I've tried to do in the past, I'm keeping it all in one place this time.

I didn't have the best of days today. I've been telling myself for weeks now that the first Monday after New Years, I had to get back to the job search. I had set my alarm for a reasonable hour this morning, and ended up smacking the snooze bar who knows how many times. I got out of bed late, and then proceeded to not do much of anything today. When I tried to start the job search, I just fell into a funk and couldn't do it. I'm not sure what the heck is up with me, other than the fact that I realized that since I came home from visiting my parents at Christmas, my happy pills had been stuck in my backpack and I hadn't unpacked them. So I went and found them, and got myself back on them. Tsk tsk.

But as Scarlett O'Hara said in Gone with the Wind, tomorrow is another day! And tomorrow shall be much better, I declare it!

Onyx is a pretty boy, but he's a pain in the butt to photograph since he's so dark. He turned 8 months old on January 1st, and he's already bigger than my other (adult) cat. Granted, she's tiny, but still. I'm pretty darn sure he's got some maine coon in him, which means he might continue to grow until he's almost 2 years old. I suspect he's gonna be a BIG boy. But he's my sweetheart.

It just occurred to me that I haven't even talked about my New Years Resolutions yet. Unlike other years, I've only made 2 this year.

1. Get off the computer, get out more and DO STUFF.
2. Be a better friend.

So far I've been doing fairly well, actually, even considering that the snow we've gotten is really keeping me inside. I was out for a good 9 hours yesterday, and next weekend I'm planning to get out to a Knit Meetup and Three Bags Full's Belated Boxing Day Sale.

It was snowing when I got up this morning, and it was snowing when I got home from my date. I am SOOOOO sick of snow!

I took this picture while I was waiting for my bus on the way out this morning, and I'm rather pleased with the way it turned out. Ok, it's touched up a bit in photoshop, but I still like it.

My date went... ok, I guess. I met him at Main St. Skytrain, we bussed up to the restaurant he'd suggested but they don't do lunch, so we ended up at a pub called The Reef, which specializes in jerked meat. I had a jerked pork eggs benedict, which was yummy but I wasn't expecting the jerked meat to taste a little bit sweet, so that was kind of odd.

Afterwards we went to a jewish deli where he bought bagels and cream cheese, then we walked up to my favorite yarn store but they're closed for the holidays. After that, we hung out at his place for a while. I haven't decided yet whether or not I want there to be a 2nd date.

I've now spent a small fortune on making my glacial set for my priest, so that I'm ready for my guild's raid on Sapphiron on Monday. And I haven't even gemmed or enchanted it yet. Oy.
