Blessed Beltaine everyone!

Yes, I know most people were saying that on Friday, and "everyone" considers May 1st to be Beltaine, but my particular "tradition" celebrates it on the appropriate day in the lunar cycle, which this year is May 9th, so this is somewhat splitting the difference. Plus, I just didn't get time to post on Friday. :)

I had a very weird and eventful weekend. Friday night was pretty quiet, and was a good raid night. Crazy cat lady boss (Auriaya) is actually quite fun. 2 hours of wiping on Freya, not so much.

Saturday, I could have done without. At about 10:15 a.m., I was sitting at my computer chatting with Ian on gchat, when my phone rang. It was an automated call from my bank, letting me know that my ATM card had recently been used at a place that was under investigation for fraud/PIN swiping, and my card had been placed into deposit-only mode for my protection, and that I needed to visit my bank for a new card. Then I logged onto my online banking and $1000 was missing from my account!!

I flew into full-on panic mode, threw on some clothes and headed straight up to my bank (thank goddess I have a bank that's open on Saturdays). When I told the roommate why I was disappearing, he said that had happened to him before and to not worry too much, the bank would fix it and I'd get my money back, so that did a bit to relieve some of my panic. Once I got to the bank and told the CSR why I was there, she said "oh don't worry, we'll get it back for you". Whew, what a relief! She filled out a fraud claim, and it will take 5-10 business days because the RCMP has to be involved, but I will get every cent back. But what a pain in the arse.

Other than that, Saturday was very quiet. I didn't get to see Ian until Sunday, as he spent Saturday working on a web project with an urgent deadline, and then he headed out to watch the Canucks game and do the whole male bonding thing. On Sunday, he came over mid-afternoon, and we finally got to spend some quality time together. Hanging out was interspersed with a wonderful leisurely birthday dinner for me at the Keg at the Station. We both had ourselves a nice big steak (Ian's was accompanied by half of a dungeness crab, which was fresh and local and a damn good price. I tried some of it and it actually wasn't too bad! I also tried some of Ian's calimari appetizer, and actually quite liked it.), shared a bottle of a rather lovely Quail's Gate pinot noir, and shared a slice of cheesecake to finish. Sadly he couldn't stay over, as he had to go home and continue pounding away at that web project, but the project should go live today and that will be the end of it for a while. And because he didn't stay over at all this weekend, next weekend he can spend the entire weekend and my PITA roommate can't complain.

This is actually Ian's last week on afternoon shift for a while... as of next Monday, he will be spending 6 weeks on dayshift. We are both rather looking forward to that. Although... I will apparently be getting a surprise visit sometime this week, as he is planning on coming over one day after work. I can hardly wait.
