new job, day two
Feb. 25th, 2009 12:58 pmThe new job is going very well so far. Yesterday morning, I was feeling very meh, but I think that had more to do with the fact that I wasn't feeling well either. I bought a new pair of shoes on Saturday (which are absolutely adorable - they have a mary jane upper but a decent sole with traction, therefore being dressy enough for work but still comfortable and not likely to mess with my feet) but when I wore them out on Sunday, they ripped up my right ankle a bit and that's still healing, and they definitely need to be broken in a lot more before I can wear them as everyday shoes. I also had an upset tummy yesterday, so that probably contributed to my mood. Today, I am getting lots of work done, and really getting into the swing of things here.
When I got home from work last night, I was absolutely exhausted; no doubt this was due to not having worked a day job in almost 4 months. Which meant I collapsed into bed very early for me. I also slept until 7am this morning (since I didn't have to be at work until 9am and have a 20 minute commute), so I am very well rested. I didn't do a whole lot besides making dinner and gaming last night, but towards the end of the evening I was really having the urge to get off the computer and be creative. I didn't, because I don't really have any projects organized at the moment, but hopefully these urges will continue.
My new job has a few perks I hadn't even anticipated... I have my own office, so it's nice and quiet and I can shut my door whenever I want. I get to set my own hours, and if I get here a bit late, it's no big deal... I just leave a little bit late. And I'm allowed to work right through my lunch to minimize the wasted time spent here. I'm only working 30 hours a week, and starting next week I am going to go down to 6 hour days, 5 days a week. After a while of doing that, I will try doing 7.5 hour days, 4 days a week to see which I like better. A 3 day weekend every week would be nice, but so would short days.
