oops, I did it again

and went a long time without an entry. I have a habit of trying to do my LJ entry writing in short spurts at work, and work has actually been too busy for it lately. On one hand, this is a good thing, as it means I'm not bored at work these days. On the other hand, no updateyness. So today, I'm actually taking the time to sit down and write a proper entry while the rice for my dinner cooks.
But first, a question. Is tonight's hockey game an early one and over already (as of 6:37pm Pacific), or are people just getting started on acting like dumbasses really early?
Ahem. Anyways. Life's been pretty good to me lately. My house is rapidly approaching a state of pretty darn clean... at the moment it's presentable, and another week or two will see it completely organized and spotlessly clean.
My desktop computer is currently non-functional, due to having been infested with a virus. It got to the point of being so bad that all I could do was a reformat and reinstall, but at the moment I can't find my Windows 7 disk. Until find that, I can't do the reinstall part of the process. I did put Ubuntu linux on it, but apparently my video card won't work with WoW under linux, so I'm going to have to go back to Windows (or dual boot). That's part of what's got me doing all this organizing. I've been wanting to do that for a long time though, so I'm killing two birds with one stone.
My laptop is working, of course, and I finally found the power cord, so I'm able to use that (and Ian's machine when he's not home), but I'm finding myself not really wanting to spend much time on the computer lately. I've spent maybe a total of an hour logged into WoW in the past week. I'm sure I'll eventually want to get back to it more, but for now, I figure this is a good thing. Instead, I'm painting SCA charters, housework, reading, and spinning (REAL spinning, with a spinning wheel and wool, not using a stationary bike, which I have to admit pisses me the hell off that people call that spinning) while watching Game of Thrones, Glee and Big Bang Theory.
Things with Ian are excellent. He's being helpful, cleaning up after himself a LOT more than he used to (he's not perfect, but then again neither am I), and best of all, treating me with tons of respect (and adoration, which is very cute). He's respecting my need to go to SCA events and to go hang out with my friends, and in return I'm making slightly different choices because I am finding myself wanting to spend more time with him than I used to. All in all, a very big YAY.
I think my rice is finished, so I'm going to go heat up my curry and have dinner while I watch Sunday's Game of Thrones episode. I am absolutely LOVING the show, by the way. If you aren't watching it, why the heck not?

Date: 2011-05-19 03:17 am (UTC)I seem to be spending less time on the computer as well. I need to spend a BIT less on, though, and get more creative things done that don't involve digital scrapbooking.
I'm so jealous of your spinning wheel! My MIL and I are dying to own one!
Yay for Ian! And Game of Thrones! And rice!

Date: 2011-05-19 03:37 pm (UTC)My spinning wheel was totally a case of being in the right place at the right time. I was in a yarn store chatting with one of the girls and ogling some laceweight alpaca yarn and lamenting the fact that I couldn't spin that fine on my drop spindle. Turned out she had an Ashford Traditional wheel for sale for only $150! I snapped it up in a heartbeat.

Date: 2011-05-19 06:08 am (UTC)* I quit watching TV in the 1980's when I discovered that I would rather do things that sit around looking at a box watching people do things.
* Every time I see a movie based upon a book I enjoyed I get upset at the changes they make to the story.
* Many people and themes portrayed in that book are hard enough to read, I wouldn't wish to *see* them for real.
* Who has time to watch TV?

Date: 2011-05-20 04:52 am (UTC)Only reason I'm considering re-reading is that I've had a lot of down time being sick so I've been reading pretty fast. >_>

Date: 2011-05-19 03:47 pm (UTC)I went to a spinning class once - it was being taught by my brother - and it kicked my ass. But at least then I understood why they call it something different then "stationary biking." When I see most people at the gym on a stationary bike, they are very lazy about it. Spinning classes just don't leave room for that.
But yes, why they don't pick a different name for it...
