just call me the Crazy Cat Lady! :)

OMG I feel like I'm so behind on certain things I may never catch up. I've been meaning to post for days. The move went well, I'll post more about it later.
Then on Thursday night, I went to Ikea to pick up a few things for organizing the living room (more drawers for my Expedit bookcase, and the straps to secure my Billy bookcases to the wall so they don't topple over, mainly), and decided that while I was there, I would take advantage of their cheap dinners.
BIG mistake. Within a couple hours, I was in agony. I thought maybe that the week and a half of eating fast food and takeout had just caught up with me, and commented to
fiodior that it was time to spend the weekend eating nothing but veggies and fruit, but by the time I went to bed, it was pretty evident that I'd gotten something like food poisoning or the stomach flu. That night was miserable, with me getting up pretty much once an hour to race for the bathroom. Somewhere around midnight, I think, the entire contents of my stomach came back up, which helped considerably, but it's still taken me until this morning, and a weekend full of sticking really close to the bathroom and living on tea, water, OJ and bread with honey to get back to normal. Fortunately by yesterday I had enough energy back to start working on organizing the house, and the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom are all done, and now I just have all my craft stuff to organize.
But here's the real interesting part. Back when I started thinking about being single again, I decided that I definitely wanted to find a place that would allow me to have what *I* consider a reasonable amount of pets, and didn't put some random arbitrary limit on it like my last place, because I wanted to add one more cat to my family. I'd planned to wait a while, but things got sped up a bit because I realized that now was actually a good time to do it, because my other two already had things shaken up a bit and the new order of things was still being established. That, plus I found as close as I could get to my dream kitten on Craigslist.
So... meet my new baby!

She is as of yet unnamed. I'm currently leaning towards naming her after my first bengal (who is also Hermione's mother... I no longer have her, which is a looong story), and naming her Lily. But I haven't decided yet. Suggestions are gratefully accepted!

She's only 6 weeks old at this point. People who try to get rid of 6 week old kittens piss me the hell off... but when I suggested to the woman that she wait a few more weeks to adopt her out, she insisted that no, the kitten had to go, she had too many cats around her house already. So I figured that the poor baby would be better off with me, since I have raised kittens from newborn and know how to take care of her.
And my other two are already almost totally used to her already... Hermione was playing with her earlier, and Onyx has stopped grumbling and keeps going up to sniff her. Yay, success!

Date: 2010-10-12 12:27 am (UTC)I have a hard time suggesting names when I haven't been around the pet to get a sense of their energy and personality, but Lily is a good one. :)
