Why are long weekends never long enough? And then the week gets busy, and I just get all argh. As usual, I started this yesterday. Sheesh.

I had a pretty good long weekend though. Overall, I did get a fair amount done, even though I also spent a fair amount of time sitting on my butt slacking. I now have a trunk FULL of empties to return, and I'll be taking the return money and putting it straight into my gas tank. The laundry is also all done and put away, which is a major task and a major relief. And now thanks to yesterday, my kitchen and front hallway are done. All that's left is the main living area and the den. Yay!

I also seem to have figured out how to keep Hermione out of my closet, which makes me VERY happy. She likes to climb my clothing and sleep on the top shelf, and also get into my drawers (I have a hanging Skubb unit from Ikea because we don't have room for another dresser for me) and sleep in my sock drawer, but her weight eventually makes it fall out and make a mess. She also pulls clothing down off the hangers when she climbs it, and then pees on my clothes for no good reason at all, except that she's grumpy, far as I can see. Not good. I actually think she must have somehow hit the shirt I was wearing yesterday in one spot, as I caught the odd whiff of cat pee every so often, but I smelled my shirt before I put it on and couldn't smell any then. Grrrrr.

On Saturday, we packed the dog into the car and headed out to Pacific Spirit Park, on the UBC endowment lands, for a walk. It was a bit of a drive, but I'd never been there before, so it was fun to see something new. We walked probably somewhere between 3 and 4km. Good for me, but I spent most of Sunday feeling awfully sore and tired.

I'm really glad this is a short week. 2 more days until birthday fun... Friday night is
dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory with a whole bunch of my very favorite people, including [livejournal.com profile] melspeth, [livejournal.com profile] wulfstan, [livejournal.com profile] fiodior, and a whole bunch of others. Ian will be at work, and I didn't want to spend my birthday evening by myself, and the family dinner is at the Keg, which is expensive, and not all of my friends can (or want to) spend that much on one night out, so this works, and I get to see most of my favorite people. I can hardly wait! (and if you're reading this and want to come on Friday, you're welcome to, just let me know so I can increase the reservation numbers)
