I'm finally back to work again as of yesterday, after 2 weeks of being off and somewhat busy yet bored. I had to take 2 weeks off of my temp assignment because they lacked a desk to put me at, due to a consultant being in the office and needing my space. I'd hoped to be able to collect unemployment for those 2 weeks, but in the end, EI decided I didn't qualify after all. I'm tempted to appeal it, but on the other hand, I'm working now, and if this work dries up, as long as I'm here another month, I can re-apply for unemployment as I will then have enough hours built up.

I'm hoping I'll just end up getting on here permanently though. Fingers crossed!

Outside of work, things are going well pretty much everywhere. Things are great between Ian and I. He's being helpful and respectful and really working on his communication. I still don't regret getting back together with him. :)

I had intended to spend my 2 weeks off spring cleaning the apartment, but that didn't really happen. I did get lots accomplished - organizing and putting away things that were still sitting around in bags from my move - but I didn't get everything done by any stretch of the imagination. I'm still working on it though. A little bit at a time...

Fortunately, I'm apparently going through a "bored with WoW" stage. I think I spent maybe half an hour logged in yesterday evening, and that was mostly just to chat with [livejournal.com profile] fiodior. I spent the rest of the evening playing with my fuzzies, knitting, cooking a proper dinner, cleaning the kitchen, making beads, and practicing my harp. If this keeps up, there will be many, many project pictures to post in the near future. :)

writing

Now that the completely mundane update is out of the way, here's something completely out of the norm for me. I have been getting this HUGE urge to write lately.

And when I say "write", I don't mean writing blog entries or updating my LJ, I mean WRITING. I think it might be all of the writers I follow on LJ rubbing off on me or something. But geez... the last thing I need is yet another hobby.

Nevermind the fact that I really don't consider myself much of a writer at all. I've always figured my writing style was much too matter-of-fact and nowhere near eloquent enough to write fiction. I might have to give it a try though, to get the urges out of my system.

Speaking of writing, Ian used to do a lot of it. All non-fiction though. He ran a community newspaper for a while, and used to write for one of those little rags that get handed out at the skytrain stations. He also kept a blog, where he talked mostly about current events and politics. Anyhow, I've been trying to encourage him to pick the writing back up again. I think it would do him some good, and in the case of his blog, it would give me a startign point to learn more about the things that interest him. He tries to explain things to me, but he always starts babbling on and on about tangentially related stuff, and almost always late at night when I'm tired and my brain is already half asleep, and it just goes in one ear and out the other. I had the thought, that if he was to start blogging again, perhaps I could read his entries, do a little research on the background of it, and then we would be able to discuss what he's writing about. I also get the feeling he misses writing, so I'd like to see him get back into it.
