the long weekend report
May. 4th, 2010 02:49 pmOverall, I had a really really darned good birthday weekend. Yesterday was a bit meh, but after all the excitement, that wasn't surprising. On Thursday, after a crazy mail day (I received 3 packages I'd been waiting on - my glasses from Zenni Optical, which are pretty decent considering they were $25; my bottle of The Harp of Cnoc i'Chosgair from BPAL, and the order of wax tarts and soap I'd placed recently), Ian and I went out to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory with my laurel and her husband, Ian's youngest sister,
songstress1973, and
gates_apco. All of us (except Ian's sister) had a ton of fun geeking out, and we may have actually weirded Ian's sister out a bit in the process, except that she's a ton of fun too and expects us to be weird. Afterwards, Sheila and Heidi came over and hung out for a while, and Sheila even went and got Lucy, her puppy-sitting charge, out of the car and brought her up.
Lucy was absolutely freaking ADORABLE. She's SO well behaved, and loves to be cuddled. Sheila had originally said we needed to put the cats in the bedroom, which I did, but after a bit, I said "ok, WHY did we need to put the cats in the bedroom?", to which she said that dog would chase them. At that point I was like "oh well then, to heck with that! we can let them out, my cats need to learn what a dog is anyway." I opened the bedroom door, and Onyx proceeded to entertain us.

Onyx thinking "what is that black thing on my couch?"
( the rest of the story behind the cut )
Sunday night was sushi with Ian's mom and sister, which was yummy and fun, but the only picture I took was of Ian's sushi sundaes. On Sunday, I ordered myself a birthday present - a gorgeous necklace and earrings from Sihaya Designs. I can hardly wait for them to arrive! If you're curious, look in her sales list for the "Mermaid Who Held the Moon in her Hands" necklace, and Autumn Blooms earrings just below that. I'll post pics as soon as I get them.
