feels like gardening time!
Feb. 22nd, 2010 01:50 pmIt's another gorgeous sunny day here in New West. And I'm stuck at work until 3:30, because I'm taking a 4-day weekend this coming weekend. Of course, the forecast is for nasty weather to start tomorrow... figures that would happen as I'm taking time off. Ah well.
I'm itching to get home and work on some projects, but to tide myself over while I'm at work, I'm sitting here plotting (no pun intended) my balcony garden for this year in my head.
Ian and I are having a bit of a dispute over the balcony... he wants to take over the space with lounge chairs and tiki torches, and I want more space for plants. I can't grow anything inside, because the cats just munch on them to death, so all I've got for that is the balcony.
I am mostly going to focus mostly on herbs this year, I think.
Definite must haves are:
peppermint
basil
oregano
rosemary
thyme
sage
dill
parsley
cilantro
I am thinking I will also try and plant some peppers and tomatoes. I have no idea how things will be affected by the amount of light we get, so this will all be a big experiment. I may add more to this list before I get to actually planting things. Anybody have any suggestions?
I'd also like to grow some woad for dyeing with. That could be really fun.
