wonderful weekend
Nov. 2nd, 2009 12:34 pmWell, after many years of relying on the bus, co-op cars and the kindness of other people... I once again have a car. OMGYAY. It's a blue 2004 Chevrolet Aveo hatchback. Technically it's on long-term loan from Ian's youngest sister, but from the sounds of things, she's not likely to want it back for quite some time. Needless to say, I'm absolutely THRILLED. Learning to drive a standard was interesting, but I'm doing pretty well with it, and confident enough to go out on my own now.
In even better news... my total weight lost for my first week is... 19.4 pounds! I think this is the most I've ever lost in one week before. I know that a good chunk of that will be water weight, but I really don't care, it's weight that's GONE. Normally that much weight in one week is really unhealthy, but when you're starting as high as I am, and you make this much of a change, it's not unusual. Things will slow down eventually. I'm feeling absolutely awesome, both physically and mentally. And what's even better is that I'm doing things in a way that is maintainable for the long-term, and I'm not feeling stressed out or hungry at all. These factors will make it much easier to keep going with things.
After last night's minor freak-out about Baroness' Tourney being this Saturday instead of a few weeks off like I thought it was, I managed to get myself off the computer for a long period of time to get things done. The house is tidied up again, laundry is ALL finished and put away, and the kitchen's mostly done. Then I sat down in the den and started going through all of the boxes of crap that are still left out in there. I didn't get too far last night, but I had about 40 minutes free before I left for work this morning, and instead of spending them playing WoW, like I would normally, I got to work on the boxes instead. I managed to find all of the pieces I had cut out for my navy blue underdress ages ago, plus my turtle brooches and my necklace (which needs to be re-strung). All I need to find now is my tan apron dress, which is about 95% finished (all it needs is to have straps put on it) and the skein of red silk thread I bought for the embellishment. I'm hoping to get the underdress put together tonight (machine sewing), so that it's at least wearable... I can do the embroidery on it later. The rest of it will be really quick to get done. I'm also hoping to find my red wool and get an apron dress cut out of it this week as well, as I'd like to have it to work on this weekend at the event. I'm planning to sew it by hand.
