stuff and things

So, more interesting things than the idiot-boyfriend drama...
On Sunday, Ian and I ended up going out to run a bunch of errands, and the last thing we did was stopping at Canadian Tire for garden stuff! Sadly, the over-the-railing planter I bought won't work with my balcony railing, unless I can figure out some way to bend the wire hooks. If all else fails, I guess I'll have planters sitting on the balcony itself all around the railing, because darnit, I'm having my balcony garden this year.
I also picked up two square planters to sit on the floor, some potting soil and a bunch of plants - a whole bunch of different types of peppers, and a few herbs. Off the top of my head, I know I got rosemary, cilantro, spearmint, and a couple other things, I think. I'm thinking a trip out to the garden centre on King George Highway is in order for the near future, though. And possibly GardenWorks, as well.
I went home from work on Monday and launched into the housework, and made great progress on things. After I fizzled out on that, I set my lampworking station back up again (I'd taken it down to wash the countertops down) and then hooked up the bulk tank with the extension hose. It works GREAT. Apparently you can get 100-200 hours out of a 20lb tank, depending on how high you turn the flame up, and I tend to work with a pretty low flame, so I'm ecstatic about not having to buy the 1 pound tanks again, they seem so wasteful.
I made a couple beads to test out colors for the Lampworker's Guild largess project, and I need to take pictures of them to get opinions. Both of the color schemes I have to work with (blue/white/yellow and green/white/yellow) need yellow, but I have two different yellows - one is called lemon, but turns out more like neon, and the other is a dark yellow and looks sort of yellow-orange. I personally like the dark yellow better, but I'm not sure if it would seem too orange to other people's eyes.
This wind we've been having is absolutely crazy. Being up on the 27th floor, we get hit with it harder than at ground level. I had to go out and put my empty 1 lb propane canisters on the floor in the middle of the night last night because they were clanking together from the wind, and I was concerned they'd get blown over. And my plants are getting a bit of abuse from the wind too. I hope it doesn't harm them at all.
