Because he insisted that I serve him with a formal "Two Month's Notice to End Tenancy For Landlord's Use of Property", purporting that I'm his landlord and that wanting him out so Ian can move in falls under that category, and the form says that he's entitled to 1 month's rent as compensation.
But he's left the gas stove running I don't know HOW many times since he's been living here, and as far as I'm concerned, that is endangering both me and the property. And when I say "left running", I mean he will put something on the stove in his double boiler, put it on low and leave it for HOURS, and then the flame will blow out and it's left pumping gas into the air until I notice it. Or he'll leave the burner on low even once he takes his pot off of it, and then the same thing happens. Or he'll cook things in the oven at 200C, for HOURS, or even overnight, and then forget to turn the oven off.
