1. FIREFLY. Duh. And it's plenty easy to buy the entire series on DVD.
2. Game of Thrones, in both book and TV format
3. Rick Cook's Wizardry series (Wizard's Bane, The Wizardry Compiled, The Wizardry Cursed, The Wizardry Consulted, The Wizardry Quested)
4. The Artefacts of Power series, by Maggie Furey (Aurian, The Harp of Winds, The Sword of Flame, Dhiammara)
5. The Emberverse series, by S.M. Stirling. The first one is Dies the Fire, and the second (which I'm reading now) is The Protector's War.
