i. My dinner guest for tonight just cancelled on me due to sickness, and I'm actually kinda glad. I didn't get the house as clean as I had wanted to and wasn't really organized enough to be making dinner for someone else. Whew.

ii. On the other hand, [livejournal.com profile] not_justagirl and her daughter will be coming over next weekend and I will definitely be organized by then. I'm looking forward to geeking out on Norse stuff with her.

iii. My iPhone needs to stop correcting my stuff in ways I don't want it to. Sheesh.

iv. I'm still all *muppetflail* over my job offer.

v. Ian cooked extra dinner last night so I'd have leftovers for lunch. <3

vi. As soon as my credit card payment goes through I'm going to be making an order with fritfairies.com and getting some sample packs to work with. Now that I'm working permanently again, it's time to get my business going.

So this morning I did up a really quick budget based on my new income. I'm making 5k less a year at this job than I was at my last permanent one, and even when temping I was making more when worked out on an hourly basis, and I'm also going to have to buy a $110/month transit pass to get here on top of paying for my car, since it would cost me more than that in gas and parking to drive down here every day. The number that was left after taking into account all my fixed expenses made me eep a little at first, I have to admit.

But then I sat down and made up a spreadsheet of all the SCA events I want to go to in the next 6-7 months or so, and realized that really, it's not as bad as I originally thought. I'm only looking at one event most months, and once in a while there's two, at least until the fall/winter, when there will be more local daytrip events and those are actually pretty darn cheap to go to. So it's not so bad.

The past few months have been useful for us, in a sense. Ian and I used to be really bad about eating out a lot and I did takeout far too often as well, because things were so tight the past few months, we really couldn't do ANY of that, and have gotten out of the habit. I've gotten pretty good at packing lunches every day as well. That should help the budget a ton.
