ugh Monday
Feb. 21st, 2011 11:14 amIt's SNOWING! I wonder how long it will last this time - last time it snowed for less than 10 minutes and of course didn't stick. Considering I take the skytrain to work these days, I wouldn't mind getting another dump of snow that lasted for a few days. Not likely, though.
I am SO freaking tired this morning. I slept in both days this past weekend, which of course meant I didn't get to sleep until at least after midnight last night, and was up at 6:30 a.m. I've said this a million times before, but I really need to stop doing that.
I also need to remember how much making sure I ate dinner early helped me get to sleep more easily. Ian doesn't fall asleep until 4am or so, so eating at 9pm doesn't bother him, but it definitely has an effect on me.
Aaaaanyways. I had a really good weekend. Originally
fiodior was supposed to be coming over on Saturday for another day of lampworking, but she had to cancel, so I had the whole weekend free with no commitments. Ian and I ran a couple of errands on Saturday, but otherwise just stuck around home. We did LOTS of cooking and baking from scratch - I made beef stroganoff for dinner on Saturday, and baked a loaf of hearth bread and made the biga for a batch of ciabatta which I'll finish tonight, and Ian made New England boiled dinner for dinner yesterday, and baked a batch of salted oatmeal/swirl chip cookies last night.
I also did a LOT of crafting, which I am extremely pleased with. I finished a lampworking project (6 batches of 3 beads each for the Lions Gate largesse drive happening this coming weekend) and then started on
fiodior's beads. Once I got too cold to keep going on the beads (I had the patio door open for ventilation almost all day yesterday, and turned the heat off so we wouldn't spend a fortune trying to heat the world, and eventually just couldn't stand the cold any more) and I was bored with WoW, I went and played with my spinning wheel for a while. I have this gorgeous yellow/orange/red top that I picked up at last year's Fibres West that I started spinning. The colours are very NOT me - I usually tend towards cool colours, and these are totally the colours of flame. But I'm trying to expand my horizons, which is why I bought it in the first place. Eventually I got bored with that, and picked up my norse wire knitting and started working on a piece in red wire. My creative juices are definitely flowing these days... I has IDEAS. *grin*
