I think I need a lampworking icon.
Mar. 4th, 2010 11:55 amApparently I was tired enough at work yesterday that it was showing on my face - the receptionist actually asked me if I was ok because my eyes were so red. I took that as a sign that I would be better off spending my evening relaxing, and then getting to bed at a reasonable hour. I actually went to bed the first time at 8:30, but sleep didn't happen. For some reason, I spent a few minutes REALLY missing Luna, the cat I had to have put to sleep about 2 years ago, so I got up and opened the bedroom door to encourage Hermione and Onyx to come in and snuggle. They were being obstinate though, and eventually I gave up and got out of bed for a while.
Instead of heading back to the computer, like I usually do, I went and hooked up another tank of propane and played with my torch for a bit. I practiced pulling some stringer (and I really suck at it, so I'm glad I'm registered for the Intro II class in April, so that I can learn how to do it properly), and then made the first few beads that I would actually consider selling. I made two different larger patterned beads in turquoise and white, and then 6 small beads, with the intent of wiring them as stitch markers for knitting. Tonight I will take them off the mandrels, clean them and do the wiring and test them out on my own knitting.
I'm pretty pleased with the progress I'm making in my lampworking. I have lots to learn and a long way to go, but I'm definitely getting there.
