It's been one of those weeks, and it hasn't quite stopped yet either.
After we got that notice last week, I spent the rest of my Tuesday evening and Wednesday from about noon on cleaning like a madwoman. By the time I went to bed on Wednesday, my house was so clean you could have eaten off my floors. It stayed that way for most of the weekend, but today I need to do a little bit of tidying when I get home to get it back into shape. Plus the laundry needs to be done again.
Saturday was fun - we went to Ikea, got another bar chair, and I bought some decoratey type stuff - plants etc. Then we went out for our V-Day dinner a day early, for AYCE sushi in Richmond. It was excellent and Ian LOVED the place, and I think we'll be going back there regularly. I finally tried sake, which was interesting. I know it's traditionally served warm, but I totally thought it would be better chilled.
Sunday was... not so fun. I had an art class in the afternoon, taught by my Laurel, at a mutual friend's place in Surrey. She had asked for a ride, so I picked her up at 12:15 so we could grab some lunch at the grocery store first. That was fine, and then we headed out. We got across the Patullo Bridge, and on our way up King George Highway, my car conked out. It was totally gutless, and slowed down to a crawl, and was seriously overheating. I managed to get it off the side of the road, fortunately, and my Laurel called the host of the class to come rescue her, while I called a tow truck. I had it towed to a mechanic not too far from my house, and then yesterday morning called them about fixing it.
Turns out the clutch is gone, which isn't surprising. Ian's sister had warned me that it was going to need a new one soon when I took the car over from her, and after having me learn to drive standard on it, and being a noob with it, it's totally not surprising that it's time for a new one. Fortunately, I have the money available to get it done and it won't set me back at all either.
