on to condo #2
Jun. 23rd, 2009 01:01 amAfter some thinking about it and discussion, Ian and I have decided not to take the condo we looked at yesterday. It was right at the top end of our price range, and they wouldn't let us paint, and it was a little smaller than what we really wanted. It also didn't have in-suite laundry, and we'd be paying $3 a load (and that adds up quickly considering I do about 5 loads a week just myself). So we decided that it was probably kind of silly to take the first thing we found without taking the time to look a little more.
So then I was looking through the listings on Craigslist again, and found this ad. It's condos in this building (well, Azure II), which have been purchased as investments and are going to be rented out. It's literally a 3 block walk from my workplace. The ones that are available are $1300 a month, which is $200 less than the other place. Additionally, I wouldn't have to buy a transit pass (saving $73/month) and I could cancel my gym membership since there's a gym in the building, saving another $22 a month), so it would essentially save me another $95, so it would only end up being a $55 increase over my rent here.
The building are brand new, we'd be the first people to live in the suite and they are gorgeous suites. We'd be on the 16th floor at the lowest. It has in-suite laundry, a balcony (we'd be allowed a barbecue), hardwood/tile floors, a gas fireplace, marble countertops in the kitchen, a dishwasher, and a gorgeous view. We'd also be allowed to paint. Cable and internet is included for the first year. It's also within 2 blocks of a TON of amenities.
We're going to look at the place tomorrow afternoon, so wish us luck! :)
