another meme!

Now that I'm finished the 10 day meme, I've realized that I never did finish that 30 day meme I started last fall. So I decided to pick it back up again to get me writing. Also last fall, I skipped over day 5, so today you're getting a two-fer, and I'll do that one and the next one on the list.
Day 05 – Your definition of love, in great detail
My definition of love can be summed up in a quote:
“We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”
I know I've seen this attributed to Theodore S. Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) but can't seem to find confirmation of that right now.
(I freaking LOVE this quote. So much so that I intend to find a way to work it into our wedding ceremony.)
And getting back to where I left off...
Day 08 – A moment, in great detail
Honestly, "a moment" is hard to come up with for me. I certainly don't want to rehash any of my bad moments, considering my anxiety. Let's leave those in the past where they belong, and get on with making a happy future. I can't think of any particularly wonderful moments lately, except for when Ian proposed, and you've already heard about that.
Oh, I know! My crazy family.
So when I called my parents to tell them that Ian and I were getting married, my parents didn't react particularly enthusiasticly, but that wasn't surprising, they're just like that. I'm sure they're happy for us, they like Ian, and they've seen the crap I've gone through in the past. My mom was VERY happy when I got back together with Ian.
The next day, which was Victoria Day Monday, so I was off work, my mom called me to ask if she could tell my grandparents and aunt/uncle, as they were going to be visiting that afternoon. I'm really close to my grandma, so I wanted to tell her myself, so I suggested that my mom call when they arrived so I could tell them. We continued chatting, and then the doorbell rang and it turned out that they had all arrived a lot earlier than my mom expected. So my mom put my grandma on the phone and I told her. She was very excited, but apparently no one else was in earshot so my aunt hadn't heard.
So then my grandma puts my aunt on the phone, and she does the usual chatty "how's it going", etc. I said "well did you hear my news?" and she said no, so I told her... and my aunt damn near hyperventilated. I'm serious, I actually said into the phone "somebody get Auntie Cheryl a paper bag to breathe into!" It was hilarious. And actually when I think about it... my aunt and I are actually quite similar personality-wise.
And then she thought I was talking about Jason, the guy I dated for about 3-4 months in 2007 (and brought to my brother's wedding, so my aunt & uncle met him). When I told her no, we split up a couple months later, she was all embarrassed, but I told her it wasn't a big deal and that it was actually kind of funny, because I'd actually run into Jason in the grocery store the day before. He's now married and they just had a baby in April. We're still friends via Facebook and chat once in a blue moon.
