the roommate saga, part ???
Today's BPAL: Dirty. The name is a joke, because this is actually the sent of fresh laundry, sheets drying in the sun, and cool, crisp cotton. This is actually one of the first scents I bought a 5ml bottle of after testing an imp, because it's absolutely gorgeous, and perfect for the (scorching) weather we've been having this week. I was in a hurry this morning so I hurriedly grabbed something out of my BPAL box, and when I saw the bottle I immediately went for it as it would be perfect for today.
Oh! I just realized that I haven't updated you all on the roommate saga. It's done! Well, he hasn't moved out yet, but we had started a conversation on Friday evening, and it had been left off when he said to me "ok, make me a proposal". Which kind of made me get my back up, considering. I did some thinking, and talked to Ian and
istp_archer about it, and had a proposal in my head, though I didn't get a chance to talk to him on the weekend. Last night, I mentioned to the roommate that he hadn't given me money for May's utilities yet, and he took that opportunity to continue on with the conversation from Friday.
The result is this: he's going to try to be out for the end of June. He doesn't think he'll be able to find a place that fast, I call BS because there's lots of places out there. He darned well be putting in the effort of looking, anyways. I'm going to be giving him a half month's rent. I explained to him that I didn't feel I was his landlord in the sense of the word used in the Residential Tenancy Act, etc. and that as the only person the lease and the person who has been living in that suite for 3 1/2 years, I had the right to give him a few months' notice that I wanted him to leave. He countered with his feeling of yes I am his landlord, blah blah, and in the end he stated that he felt he was entitled to SOMETHING because he knows I'm a legal assistant and that if I was in his place, I'd be insisting on getting the money. Sigh.
So I offered him a half month's rent, and he took it. And because he hasn't paid me last month's utilities, I'm just taking 2 months worth of utilities off of the half month's rent (for May and June) and paying him the difference, which is only $130. In the end, I think $130 is actually worth it to get rid of the asshole.
And I also placed conditions on it. He has to lay the hell off of me with the nagging about the housework and Ian (he hates it when Ian stays over during the week). He hasn't seemed to actually grasped the fact that he actually has to lay off of me yet though, because he mentioned the housework several times last night. I just ignored him. What an idiot.

BUT if $130 will get rid of him, and will make you happy, then so be it.
But I'd hold him to July 1. This "he'll try" stuff is bullshit. And if he's not out on July 1, then what? What if he says he couldn't find a place (which you know is a load a crap)?
At the peril of upping my geek-quotient, and in the immortal words of Master Yoda, "There is no try. There is only do."
If he's not out on July 1, I'd tell him that he can find his things on the lawn ready for him to pick up at any time.
Yes I'm a bitch. And I don't care. I dislike people who manipulate other people and treat them like shit while their doing it.

He's turning the "try" thing back on me though, since I use that phrase all the time. I always say I will try to get something done by a certain time, because I refuse to use the word promise or say I WILL do something unless I know 100% that I will be able to get it done. And since I really don't freaking care about the timeline he wants things done under... tough noogies.
I'm fine with the $130 to get rid of him though. Small price to pay for my sanity. LOL.
Hey, what's your schedule like this week? Wanna do dinner sometime soon? I'm thinking White Spot or Burger Heaven or something relatively inexpensive.

Whatever jerkweed.
As for dinner... sounds good. How about Wednesday or Thursday?
Burger haven is good. I haven't been there since the LAST time you and I went there... LONG time ago...
Meet you there between 5:30-6pm?

Hmm. Thursday I will be at archery practice, but Wednesday I'm raiding so I'd have to make sure I'm home by 7:30. Which should be doable... will you just be walking over after work or driving? If you're walking that's no big deal I can just grab a cab home afterwards, that wouldn't be that expensive. Just means we can't sit and gab forever.
Unless.. hmm. I'm seriously contemplating quitting raiding, I just haven't been able to make up my mind yet. I'm just really bored with it and getting frustrated at getting bitched at by the raid leader when I screw up, and I'm not really having fun with it anymore. And I'd rather be sewing/socializing/at an event or whatever. Maybe it's just time to quit. LOL. Anyways, yeah, after all that rambling... let's do Wednesday. :)

I've been thinking of buying a bow and going out to archery too... I did some shooting at Sons of Norway in april and really had a good time (and I was pretty good too)... except for the gigantor bruise on my arm... YOUCH!!!
Wednesday is great. I'll just walk over from SkyTrain... doesn't make sense to go all the way home and then come back again...
(ps: I think you should quit raiding too. Go outside and play :P)

And I know what you mean about the bruises, I have one of those on my left arm now, it's really pretty, all yellow and purple... LOL
oh wait you said you tried it already. LOL. Anyways, if you wanted to start going and could give me a ride I'd be happy to pitch in for your gas costs. :)
I've made up my mind, I AM quitting... gonna log in tonight and talk to an officer about it. I'm not gonna quit WoW altogether, I still like the game, I'm just sick of having to be there at specific times and stuff. So I'll just play casually instead. I suspect I'm going to be asked to keep playing for a little bit until they recruit another healing priest, though, and because I'm nice I will. But I'm not signing up for tomorrow night. :)
And yeah, I am getting outside to play a lot more... like archery! And Ian has gotten me walking quite a bit too. He's rather good for my health. :)
So, I've been meaning to ask you, now that you're back from York and Coronet's over and stuff... I really want to do more with bardic arts in the SCA, with playing instruments and stuff, even though I can't sing worth beans. Since we're both Lissa's apprentices it might be kinda weird for me to be an official student but I could really use some guidance in that area... would you be up for that? :)
