NaBloPoMo

I am SOOOOO not the writer type. Journalling here is different - I'm not trying to make up a story to keep an audience captivated. But writing? No way. So NaNoWriMo is totally not in the cards for me.

Posting here, on the other hand, I can do. So I'm setting a goal for myself

Once a day for 30 days. Even if it's just drivel, it's a post.

I've tried NaNoWriMo before and I totally do not care about writing fiction. I love journaling as an exercise in writing, however.

I'm too scared to join NaBloPoMo.

Good luck! I look forward to reading.

i tried the 30 day meme.... its a excuse to post daily , in any case...... i didnt manage it.

i am,however, trying to knit a sweater

[identity profile] ravnsdaughter.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had the yarn already, I'd do NaKniSweMo and make my mom a sweater for Yule. But I don't have enough yarn in the house for that, and November is going to be a VERY lean month for me, so NaBlo will have to do.

i gave away three BOXES (big ones) of yarn, and still have four dresser drawers, three tubs, and a shelf full....
and thats my personal stash.

so knitting is what i am doing, since i already own all the gear/yarn/etc.

i suspect all the family is getting hats for xmas, or scarves, or sweaters, or something.

its been tight here too, but like i said, already HAVE the yarn.

so, help a girl out here...... plain stockinette? or pattern?

Wow, that's a lot of yarn! I have a bit of a stash - nothing like that though - but it's all one or two balls, because I don't really do huge projects. I need to get started on Xmas knitting too though. I don't know what yet, because I did hats the year before last and my family isn't really all that appreciative of handmade gifts. My mom is, but both of my siblings are the "why are you making our gifts? are you being cheap?" type.

Stockinette is faster but patterns are more interesting. I'd say it's Ravelry search time. :)

yea.... i own a lot of yarn, and i didnt count the sales goods

your siblings, pardon my saying so, are being ass hats. if you wish to waste an obviously too good for them bit of hand work on their xmas presents, i suggest you label it with
"hours work= x
my hourly wage=y
therefore this hat costs yarn+x+y+ amortized value of tools"
(not counting profit/retail markup)

snort

one day they will wish they had one of your nice hand knit things. i suggest you wait for that day and laugh at them.

sorry, i was a bit of an ass as a child, and i still regret not appreciating my g mom's knit stuff when she was still with us. i have ONE top she knit for me that still survives, and its not one of her better works...... but i treasure it.

maybe you could get them subscriptions to knit picks? THAT woudl teach them how much we spend on yarn......... lol

[identity profile] ravnsdaughter.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I know my siblings are asshats. They're very much the "I'm not buying you a present if you don't buy me one" type... blech. I would much rather have something hand made or a random present out of the blue because someone saw something cute that they thought I'd love. I wish I could just say "no more Giftmas" but I don't think that would go over very well.

[identity profile] fabricdragon.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
ah
i dont mind giftmas, since it gives me a *schedule*

but then i am the disorganized "write it down or it doesnt happen " type, so having a schedule is *important* to me

but it can certainly get out of hand.

when i had my gift store, we labeled shelves
$5 and under
10 and under
20 and under

etc to help people who had polly anna type things. now THAT idea i like

"any present, to one randomly chosen person, under ___ amount"

you know.... if you need more yarn.......i may go through another round of pruning. i may not. but i may

also join Holiday_wishes and ask for yarn. srsly.
