I figured out last month that I'm happiest when I have just one of each kind of project. Two socks and nothing else wasn't fun.

The Ravelry forum "Sock Knitters Anonymous" has monthly challenges... cast on in September, finish by the end of October, and you get entered in the monthly prize drawing. Last month there were over 300 finishers so your odds are never good, but it's always fun to have a 'reason' to be knitting, and a deadline for those of us who like them. This month is any pattern done in yellow yarn, or a Wendy Johnson pattern done in any yarn, or the mystery sock pattern where you get one clue a week throughout the month.

There are other, smaller forums for fans of CookieA's sock book or Wendy Johnson's book, but sometimes they demand you finish the whole pair within the month, or don't let you modify the toe/heel/cuff length if you want to enter the prize drawing, etc. So the SKA is really my favorite.

I was all set to start the Aeolian shawl, but the 100% silk I was using is too fiddly for the amount of patience I have right now, and then I stumbled into some gorgeous variegated Malabrigo lace. So I'm doing the Icarus shawl instead, and I'm totally in love with my new Addi lace needles.

My knitting content is over at thetexturedknitter.wordpress.com btw... I decided I wanted to divorce my fandom and gaming interests from my knitting, since someday I'd like to be a semi-pro. =)
